The days of sticking a key in your ignition and turning it are slowly fading off into the past. Many drivers simply get into their vehicle, push a button, and go on their way. Because starting your vehicle depends less on mechanics and more on computers, many people don't know where to start when there are malfunctions. The design on the remote key (also known as the key fob) in the newer high-end cars, are so intricate that the days of resolving an issue yourself, are over.
No one wants to try to get into their car and be locked out or not able to start their car because of a dead battery in your key. So what precautions should you take and what should you do when this happens?
Make sure that you replace the batteries in your key fob when the low battery light comes on. This will allow you to stay proactive when avoiding these types of issues. Believe it or not, if you have a remote for your car ignition, there is a key hidden inside of the remote which will allow you to enter your car. If your key fob battery dies, you may still be able to place the fob in a slot to start the car. The car will recognize the fob even if the battery is dead.
Make sure you know your owner's manual description when it comes to your key fob and ignition. Knowledge about your vehicle will save you from the headache of being stranded.
